Spring Projects

It's the weekend! Yay! No radiation tomorrow, and Sharon and I are going on the first-of-the-season yard sailing expedition. We've missed our Saturday routine. Cathy would be going, but she and her family are leaving tomorrow for Orlando, Florida for a week. Poor thing! She's attending a conference. She'll be going to Epcot for sure.
Jim has been helping Sharon out the past 2 days. She bought some Pergo flooring to lay in her foyer, and needed Jim's help in cutting it and putting it together. It's finally finished, and she's very pleased with it. I'm looking forward to seeing it tomorrow morning. The floor area she was covering was slate, and she chose a Brazilian Cherry for the Pergo. In between the slate and the Pergo is a padding or cushion. Because of the corners and cut out areas, it proved to be a challenging project, but Jim is good at that and Sharon says she loves it. Her main reason for the change was to create a clean look, and to have the entry blend in with the other wood nearby. Jim enjoyed himself. He likes to get involved with home DIY projects. He's done a lot for us - wiring, painting, plumbing, carpentry, installing windows, laying tile, you name it. I'm married to a great handyman!
Meanwhile, I stayed home and worked outside in one of the garden areas. I raked, trimmed azalea bushes, pulled up catnip that had taken over, pruned the mini-roses, and planted some primroses. Now that the bushes are trimmed back, we can actually see the daffodils that are ready to bloom. It looks so much better - neat and ready for the new season. There are other plants that are coming up - lilies for one thing, some herbs, chives. Now to move on to the next spot and clean that one. My problem is that my stamina is low. I keep stopping to rest for a couple of minutes. I need to get some strength back. But the only way to do that is to get out there and push myself.
PHOTO: Primroses - it would be nice if the ones I planted looked as pretty as these from the Flower Show.
